MAJOR PROJECT PRODUCTION - week 11

here we are, two weeks away from the end of this journey, and i am proud to say that our work has been on track and our project is on the brink of completion. having met with our facilitator, we were given just a few fix-ups and adjustment suggestions from him, as well as a minor re-render which was done in the matter of hours.

given composition isn't my strong suit, i had to go through some tutorials on YouTube to get a better idea of how to fix the volume and adjust the waves accordingly, as we had to add some sound effects as well as the score. an artist by the name of Ignace Aleya has put out a very helpful video explaining how to work with the sound waves of a track, which can be used to lower or raise the volume of a single track. the artist also explains that the level of the track can't go over a specified amount, which would result in "clipping" which could distort the audio, so he advises we stay within the range of -3 to -1 decibels to stay on the safe side (Aleya,2016).Tthe video in question, titled "How to Work with Audio in After Effects - TUTORIAL", is about 7 minutes long, which was perfect for me as i had to get the task done ASAP, i was tasked with adding cluttering sound in the shots where the girl drops onto the trolley.

i lowered the volume of the cluttering, which was a royalty-free clip i got off of YouTube, as the score of the film had to be overpowering, and i didn't want the clutter to sound out of place. the shot turned out to be great after the sound effects were added, i also added the cinematic black bars and embossed the film with dust particle overlays, making it more dynamic.

work this week was minimal, we mainly focused on the fixes we were given and we also worked on completing our quality assessment sheet, which ended up being 10 pages long. we really wanted to elaborate on the methods we used and ended up using photos to display the execution, so that stretched out the the document way more than intended.

next week will be my last blog entry, it will summarise the trimester and hopefully conclude this long journey for good, it has been a great one.
