The model is almost finalized, at long last, i just need a couple more approvals and he should be ready to texture. The spines on his back needed some adjustments as they didn’t look like they were coming ut if his back, rather they were glued onto it, so i had to fix that, apart from that, there were very minor adjustments an This week’s class was about Vray cameras and how to handle them, they are full of details and some really cool features, it has a Z-depth feature, Bokkeh lense, some great lense effects and motion blur. We were asked to bring our characters into a shot and set it up for a Vray cam test, we tested out the Z-depth feature as well as how to fix the lighting using the aperture, ISO and F number of the lense, we also added some Bokkeh effects to the background to make it look extra special. The camera is fairly easy to use, the only challenging part was figuring out exactly what value is needed for each shot, we were not going to use this camera in our current project but we will definitely be using it in the future. In the future this can be used to skip modeling detailed structures and still have the same amount of details. I got the approvals from my professor regarding my model so i started texturing the guy, i used a lot of built in maps in Max to texture him but i decided to use Substance painter to make the chest diffuse map, as i wanted to add some withering to the edges. The texturing shouldn’t take long, it should be done this week.

and here is a render of whats going on in the back-

the spine came out really well, it was suggested to me by my lecturer to add a bit of a natural flare to the alien, i also used some references for this back area as sci-fi isn't my strong-suit, a majority being from Pacific rim

my lecturer suggested i look at some pacific rim design for reference, i liked the way this looked but i needed it to pop more to give the alien s nice silhouette. so i decided to make it more spiked out.
