MAJOR PROJECT PRODUCTION - week 7

Updated: Nov 22, 2020

We are now past the midway mark, with just 5 weeks remaining and not much left to do, our progress is moving nicely. from my side, i only have 3 more shots to render and i will be done with rendering, what's left is implementing the post production and making sure the shots look extra good.

in terms of work, that's all i have been up to, just checking renders, downloading and post production, here is an example of the post production work i did.

the post production mainly consisted of amplifying the passes and using the layers to further enhance the video, the left if before post and the right is after. post production adds more character your shot (Klich,2020) and give it that extra charm

A great video i found that explained post production for 3D visualisation was from a channel called Arch Viz Artist. the artist, Agnieszka Klich, or as she refers to herself, Aga, does a great job in showing her workflow pipeline about how she fixes her renders using photoshop. as much as visualisation and animation are different, the process is pretty much the same, as we only adjust 1 frame and the rest follow the same settings. she has a great technique where she uses masks to create a fake vignet effect, which can be done through a tool but she wanted to adjust the values in which the vignet affected the image.

In animation, we also use masks, there are many areas where they are vital, for instance, i was working on one of the shots where i used a fairy light video from youtube to add a magical feel to the clip

the video itself was a rectangular shape, which means the fairy lights would disappear past that, so what i did was a masked them in a circular shape and used a tool called "feather" to make the edges softer, which in turn makes the lights look like they are fading away rather than just abruptly disappearing. i also animated the fairy lights to move with the camera, so that they don't look static, this kind of post production only takes about 30 mins to an hour depending on how heavy the shot is, generally, it's a fairy quick process.

So the workflow between 3D visualisation and animation is just about the same, apart from the tedious rendering and downloading process! there are other videos on that channel that could help me in the upcoming weeks, as post production is mainly what we have to do at this point (apart from desirable animation shots).
