MAJOR PROJECT - week 7

so this week has been hectic, i have been working on the environment and some assets that can go in the envionment, flowers, leaves and some vases as well, i had just drafted the vases but havent gotten to work on them yet.

i did get to finish the counter for the reception though! here is how it looks now:

the flowers have been a fun experience i did 3 variations of exotic flowers that we can place around the hall, one of them being an orchid, which is one of my favourite flowers! to get me started on the flowers, i had to look up some tutorials to get an idea about how people usually approach this topic. on of the videos i found was this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEIxsSC4Ql8&t=537s by "Cartoon with MK" on YouTube, she shows how to create a radial design with the petals she makes. basically the trick there is with the pivot point, i used this technique before to make a fan/blaster for a space ship i did back in studio 2. the other tutorials consisted of basically the same idea, but with different interpretations.

to reduce the amount of polys we use in the scene, i also researched on how to properly use alpha maps to make planar plants, basically this means the plant would be a paper essentially, and we can duplicate it around the environments for far-away shots. this video by "NWK games" explains it pretty nicely https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWRwKh2ZS9Y&t=218s he shows an example of the maps needed and how to use them properly.

i have been looking into some plant packs we can consider purchasing in case we don't have enough time to model all the foliage, i did find some good ones but they do cost hundreds of dollars. the cheapest pack i found cost about $125 and it contains about 20 flowers we could use. i am taking commissions on the side to save up for these just in case we need them, but hopefully we can do without. here is a link for the ones i found:

trees

single flowers

flower packs

these can come in handy when we need it most, but i hope we can carry the project without them!
